The European Commission has more recently enacted the Digital Markets Act (DMA) as part of its efforts to create a fair and competitive digital ecosystem. It was passed in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-introduction-to-the-german-competition-act-gwb\">Introduction to the German Competition Act (GWB)<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gesetze-im-internet.de\/englisch_gwb\/englisch_gwb.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">German Competition Act<\/a>, also known as GWB or the \u201cGerman Act Against Restraints of Competition\u201d, is a comprehensive legal framework that aims to prevent anticompetitive behavior and ensure fair commercial competition in Germany. It has been in effect since the 1950s and has undergone 11 amendments to adapt to the evolving business landscape, particularly the evolution to more digital products and services. The GWB covers various aspects of competition law, including mergers and acquisitions, abuse of market power, and cartel agreements.<\/p>\n<h4>Objectives of the German Competition Act<\/h4>\n<p>The primary objectives of the German Competition Act are to promote fair competition, protect consumer interests, and prevent the abuse of market power by dominant companies.
